Popular Wedding Flowers & What They Mean
TJ Flowers & EventsShare
Choosing wedding flowers is part aesthetics, part meaning, part logistics (what's in season, what lasts through a long day). Here are the blooms we use most for NYC weddings, what each symbolizes, and how to think about them.

The most popular wedding flowers
| Flower | Meaning | Peak season |
|---|---|---|

| Garden roses | Romance, luxury | Late spring–fall |
| Peonies | Happy marriage, prosperity | Late spring (May–June) |
| Ranunculus | Radiant charm, attraction | Spring |
| Hydrangea | Heartfelt emotion, gratitude | Summer–fall |
| Tulips | Perfect love | Spring |
| Lily of the valley | Return of happiness (a royal favorite) | Spring |
| Eucalyptus / greenery | Abundance, structure | Year-round |
How to choose your wedding flowers
- Start with season. In-season flowers are fresher, hardier through a long day, and far better value. Peonies in June cost a fraction of peonies in December.
- Pick a palette, then flowers. Choose two or three colors first; it makes every other decision easier.
- Balance statement and filler. A few focal blooms (peonies, garden roses) plus texture (ranunculus, spray roses) and greenery reads lush without overspending.
- Consider meaning for the bouquet. Many brides choose the personal bouquet around symbolism, then design the rest for color.
